St. Hilda's Primary School 圣希尔达小学 区域:Tampines
Principal's Foreword
-
St Hilda's Primary School, established in 1934, has had a long history since Archdeacon Graham White founded the school on the basis of exposing more children to education so that they may have a brighter future ahead. Here in St Hilda's, the emphasis is placed on developing an all-rounded education where pupils learn to be confident, articulate and caring. Each pupil is encouraged to excel in studies as well as having an excellent moral standing within the society of whatever country they may finally serve in. The pupils are taught a multitude of different subjects such as English Language, Mathematics, Science, Mother Tongue Languages (Chinese / Malay / Tamil), Physical Education as well as Civics and Moral Education which serves a dual purpose - to prepare them not only for their further education but also to ensure that they grow up to be morally upright.
However, we are aware that each child that enters the gates of St Hilda's is unique in his or her own way. Hence, much of the curriculum is also directed toward holistic development where pupils are encouraged to further both their studies as well as other things that they may have an interest in, such as sports or the arts. Pupils from St Hilda's Primary School are often complimented on their skills in successfully managing both work and play, which they do to the best of their abilities.
The Co-Curricular Activities (CCAs) are used as platforms to inculcate values such as self-discipline, perseverance, determination and teamwork. With the numerous programmes a child can participate in, it is not surprising, therefore, when the number of pupils that choose to take part in programmes that the school allows for is extremely high. CCAs in St Hilda's are extremely diverse and they range from the sports to the performing arts. This is the reason why many pupils from St Hilda's Primary School develop a niche in the areas that hold interest for them, which further results in excellent all-round development for the child.
The staff at St Hilda's has an excellent relationship with their pupils as well. Teachers often go the extra mile just for their pupils, often dedicating extra time to coaching them, ensuring that they understand whatever is taught in class so as to ensure that results are achieved. In this manner, the teacher-pupil relationship is built on an extremely firm foundation that allows for the well-being of the individual pupils.
An African proverb states that it takes an entire village to raise a child, and here at St Hilda's, it is our wish that together with our staff, parents, other stakeholders and the community, YOUR child be raised in a manner fitting for a king. We are willing to do what it takes to ensure that a child who attends St Hilda's grows up in a suitable environment for his/her well-being. Our aim, thus, is to be a dynamic learning community that nurtures loyal citizens with global outlook and Godly character, and this is what we can and will do to the best of our abilities for any child that is attending St Hilda's Primary School.
